Some have been coined the kings and queens of R&B, even in Hip Hop. But I’d like to nominate Ms. Hadiya as the Rap Princess. I had the pleasure to witness this little girl perform at Garfield Park’s Creature of the Night Halloween celebration. She was FANTASTIC. It was amazing to watch a 6 year old remember her verses, work the stage by engaging her audience and mesmerize other little tikes. The children were spellbound by Hadiya’s energetic performance as they bopped their heads and jumped around to her hit song, “You Didn’t Get the Memo (A snippet of song is below). Everyone in attendance knew she rocked as the crowd flooded her for autographs and SOLD OUT of her promo CDs.
Not only is she a positive rapper, begging people to put down those hand weapons, she is a spokes girl for Leukemia – doing all this long before her 10th birthday. Keep your eyes peeled for Hadiya to grace a mic near you and make sure your kids tune in. She’s making an impact in a way a parent can be proud of.
